IMMEDIATE OPENING 

Summary 

Maintain a vibrant and interactive electronic communications strategy using Web, e-mail, and social media. Oversee internal interface between SOPHE’s association management system and main SOPHE website and microsites. Assist in strategic development and integration of SOPHE Dashboard and Knowledge Center. Requires master’s degree in public health/health communications, and demonstrated experience with websites, association management systems, and development of online tools for public health professionals. 

Responsibilities 

1. Manage SOPHE’s electronic communications strategies, including: 
Overseeing all Web content and design to ensure efficiency in the day-to-day operations of web-publishing and site(s) content management as well as other e-communication strategies. 
Overseeing interface between SOPHE’s microsites and main SOPHE website. 
Contributing to the web publishing process with hands-on support for creating, editing and posting content, creating or manipulating graphics, rendering images, writing scripting, creating templates and forms, etc. 
Working with SOPHE’s internal Communications Team to ensure consistency of messages and strategic marketing. 
Staffing the Communications Committee to receive member input and direction. 
Coordinating SOPHE’s social media outreach by assisting in writing, design and execution of various communications. 
Coordinating with SOPHE’s IT vendor and website developer. 

2. Work with Society leadership and programmers to create, launch and maintain state-of-the-art Knowledge Center by: 
Providing input into the overall design and direction to ensure it meets SOPHE members’ needs. 
Coordinating with SOPHE’s IT vendor and Knowledge Center developer. 
Conducting beta testing for usability. 
Branding and promoting the new Center among members and other target audiences. 
Developing policies and procedures for collecting and loading up materials. 
Soliciting contributions from members and other target audiences. 
Integrating connection to SOPHE’s Center for Online Resources and Education (CORE) system. 
Tracking uses of various aspects of the Knowledge Center and providing semi-annual reports. 
Making recommendations for Center improvement. 

3. Work with Society leadership and programmers to create, launch, and maintain a new online policy communication tool to assist communities to develop an evidence-based strategic plan for changing policy/systems/environment to reduce chronic diseases by: 
Providing input into the overall design and site architecture. 
Coordinating with SOPHE’s IT vendor and Knowledge Center developer. 
Conducting beta testing for usability. 
Integrating the new tool into SOPHE’s Knowledge Center. 
Working with the SOPHE team to refine content in the Policy Communications Tool as well as its maintenance. 
Tracking uses of various aspects of Policy Communications Tool and providing semi-annual reports. 
Making recommendations for improvement of the tool. 

5. Oversee SOPHE Dashboard to track the progress in implementing the Society’s strategic plan objectives by: 
Coordinating with SOPHE’s IT vendor and Knowledge Center developer. 
Working with staff to gather data needed for Dashboard. 
Promoting the Dashboard among members and other target audiences. 
Developing internal procedures for Dashboard operation and maintenance. 
Tracking access/use of Dashboard and providing semi-annual reports. 
Making recommendations for improvement. 

6. Assist in the design and development of SOPHE e-communication messages to the membership and prospective members and conference attendees as part of SOPHE’s strategic communications effort by: 
 Serving as a member of SOPHE’s Marketing and Communications Team and playing an integral role in assisting with Media Relations. 
 Regularly tracking web-based engagement with SOPHE’s electronic platforms including the website, social media and electronic communication tools including the newsletter using web analytics. 

7. Work with SOPHE Senior Management Team on issues related to SOPHE’s Association Management System software by: 
Making changes to online systems for meeting registration, fundraising, or other functions managed in the AMS. 
Providing input into proposal, selection, and data integration of new AMS system. 
Coordinating with SOPHE’s website and AMS vendors. 

8. Serve as primary interface between SOPHE staff computer/technology needs and IT vendors and consultants by troubleshooting office problems and overseeing resolution. 
9. Assist with the development of proposals and other fundraising activities involving SOPHE health communications. 
10. Other SOPHE activities and duties upon request
