Background:
The Health Program of the Salt Lake City office of the IRC has a proven record of providing innovative, culturally and linguistically appropriate health services; in doing so the Health Program has successfully implemented initiatives that address many of the barriers facing refugees as they start new lives in Utah.  Through 24 months of health and wellness services the Health Program facilitates and promotes well-being by empowering clients in their journey towards wellness.  Achieved through culturally aware, innovative, purposeful, compassionate, and strength-based services, our programming ensures clients maintain dignity and equality through an environment of trust and mutual respect.
 Scope:
The Health Program Manager is responsible for the day to day management of all health and wellness programming and ensuring services support the IRC mission and goals of the Salt Lake City office. The position dedicates significant portion of time to staff supervision, program development, and community outreach and involvement.  The position reports to the Executive Director.
 Responsibilities:
 Program Management:
  • Manage multiple health and wellness programs and projects support IRC mission and goals.
  • Ensure the health program and related projects provide culturally and linguistically appropriate services while promoting wellness and self reliance.
  • Support programming in the areas of Maternal and Child Health, Health Access and Education, Nutrition and Food Security, Youth Wellness, Medical Interpretation, Special Needs Case Management, Mental Health and others as needed.
  • Identify services gaps; work on the development and implementation of programming to address gaps.
  • Ensure accurate reporting and tracking of health and wellness services is maintained.
  • With the Executive Director and Finance Manager, create and manage program budgets.
  • Represent IRC through community outreach and involvement.
 Staff Supervision:
  • Provide direct support to health program full time and part time staff members.
  • Mentor and support staff in professional and personal development.
  • Cultivate an environment of teamwork through weekly program meetings and on-going trainings.
  • Conduct mid-year and annual performance management evaluations.

General Management:
  • Actively support and promote IRC mission along with goals of Salt Lake City Office.
  • Participate in Leadership Team.
  • Promote a cultural of fundraising.
  • Provide support to other programs as needed and/or requested.

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Health Promotion, Public Health, Social Work or other health related field; graduate degree preferred.
  • Holistic understanding of refugee health and wellness, particularly health trends, issues, challenges, and appropriate interventions.
  • Strong organizational skills including: multi-tasking, prioritizing, planning, and effective time management.
  • Computer literacy, data base experience preferred;
  • 3-5 years experience of program management and direct staff supervision.
  • Familiarity with healthcare system in Utah.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively work as a team member in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English, with bi-lingual ability in any refugee language preferred.

This position is with the Utah Cancer Control Program (UCCP). This position functions under limited supervision and has considerable discretion in judgment in projects and assignments associated with Utah's WISEWOMAN (BeWise) Program, Lifestyle Intervention contractors, providers, medical institutions, other health care professionals and the public.

This position will coordinate the implementation of the WISEWOMAN Lifestyle Intervention by: (1) assessing the needs and evaluating delivery of program services, (2) creating partnerships and collaborating to ensure participants have access to community resources (3) providing technical assistance to contracting providers and coordinating/providing necessary professional development and training opportunities.
