This position will direct and manage all aspects of the Utah Diabetes Prevention and Control and Arthritis Programs. Manage day-to-day operations; supervise eight program staff and oversee their work; plan, implement and evaluate the program; manage contracts; oversee budget; correspond with CDC officials; ensure reports are submitted to CDC and other stakeholders in a timely manner; work collaboratively with diverse and numerous external and internal partners to achieve outcomes; and communicate program successes to a variety of stakeholders.
 
Minimum qualifications include:
  • bachelor's degree in nursing, public health, health education or nutrition
  • knowledge of management/supervisory principles
  • experience of at least 2 years in supervising professional staff
  • knowledge of budget development
  • knowledge of funding agencies of public health programs
  • knowledge of developing budget proposals for federal health agencies
  • knowledge of social marketing theory and processes
  • knowledge of health education/promotion theories and processes
  • ability to identify public health data sources
  • ability to use public health data to describe population health problems
  • ability to write goals, objectives and activity work-plans
  • knowledge of contract management processes
  • ability to negotiate contracts
  • ability to work in partnerships or coalitions with diverse membership
  • knowledge of program evaluation methods, including formative and outcome
  • ability to use CDC evaluation framework for public health programs
  • skill in program or project evaluation
  • skill in oral presentations
  • Preference will be given to candidates with a Master's Degree in Health Education, Public Health or Management.
