Family Support and Treatment Vista


Title: FRIENDS for the Empowerment of Children and Families AmeriCorps VISTA

Family Support & Treatment Center. AmeriCorps VISTA is a national program where community members have the opportunity to serve in local nonprofits for one year helping eliminate poverty. In return for service, members receive a living allowance, health insurance and other benefits.

An AmeriCorps VISTA position is open in Orem to help create program sustainability through the development of the FRIENDS for the Empowerment of Children and Families.  This VISTA is needed to help support a group of committed, passionate volunteers; write grants to provide future services for children and families at risk of abuse, neglect, and other traumatic experiences; and bring greater awareness and education regarding the effects of child abuse to political and business leaders, and to the community at large. 

The VISTA position will begin with a Pre-Service Orientation 8/6/2013-8/9/2013 in Los Angeles, CA (paid by Vista Program)

Benefits:
-Living Allowance ($946 a month pre-taxes),
-At the end of year of service, the VISTA can choose an Education Award ($5,550) or End of Service Cash Stipend ($1,500)

-Childcare assistance, if eligible

Requirements:
-Full-time service for one year without school or other work commitments
-Some college experience
-At least 18 years of age
-General office and computer skills
-Pass a Background Screening

 Community Health Connect VISTA Position 

Title: Volunteer Provider Network Coordinator 
AmeriCorps VISTA is a national program where community members have the opportunity to serve in local nonprofits for one year helping eliminate poverty. In return for service, members receive a living allowance, health insurance and other benefits. 

Overall VISTA Goal: 
AmeriCorps VISTA members will build the capacity of existing services and assist in the development of new or more efficient services that improve health in their communities. Members will do so by mobilizing youth and adult volunteers, community leaders, resources, in addition to conducting outreach and establishing partnerships to help improve access to better overall health. 

Volunteer Provider Network Coordinator VISTA Description: 
  • Community Health Connects VISTA will recruit new doctors and dentists to the Volunteer Provider Network. They will develop a strategy to recruit and procure a list and map of potential providers in Utah County. They will create marketing material for recruitment which will include a consistent mailing strategy. They will develop a tracking/reporting system to maintain current volunteer providers through familiarizing themselves with our current data management system. They will create 3-5 retention oriented activities for our volunteer providers by identifying those things that encourage continuous involvement. 
  • They will increase awareness of our volunteer provider network and CHC’s programs among community partners and improve our programs sustainability. They will implement this awareness by researching grant opportunities, writing and managing grants and carrying out alternative models for increasing the sustainability of our VPN. 
  • VISTA will start on August 6-9 in Provo UT.
