Title: Health Educator
Grade: 17 Step: 1 Wage: $15.18/hr

Summary of Duties:
Under the general supervision of the Health Promotion Director;
plans, implements and evaluates health promotion programs in the River Health
District. Facilitate 5th grade boys maturation program and parent
meetings.
Knowledge of:
Must have knowledge of public health education models,
behavior change theories, and primary prevention techniques. Must be skilled in
computer programs including work processing, spreadsheets, databases, desktop
publishing, internet, and email use. Must have good written, verbal and public
communication skills. Spanish speaking skills a plus. Must be able to establish
and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, other agencies,
and the community. Must have skills in program planning and evaluation, and
considerable knowledge of public health trends, methods and procedures. Must be
able to work well under pressure, manage multiple tasks simultaneously, work
well in team situations, meet deadlines and be able to work independently on a day-to-day
basis.
Qualifications:
GRADE 17: Graduation from an accredited college or
university with a B.S. degree in Health Science, Public Health, Community
Health or other closely related field AND 1 year of full time paid professional
employment in community or public health plus CHES eligible.
OR
Substitutions on a year-for-year basis as follows:
Additional graduate study in a public or community health
program for the required full-time paid professional employment requirement.
