This position manages the Tobacco Prevention and Control Program. This position is responsible for supervising staff; overseeing the budget; planning, implementing, and evaluating the program (based on available data and best practices); writing program and funding proposals to federal and other agencies; overseeing contracts (including the TPCP's marketing campaign, quit line, and external evaluation efforts); working collaboratively with diverse and numerous external and internal partners to achieve outcomes; and communicating program successes to a variety of stakeholders.

 

Minimum qualifications include:

bachelor's degree in health education, public health or related field

knowledge of management/supervisory principles

at least 2 years demonstrated experience supervising professional staff

skill and ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing

knowledge of budget development and management

knowledge of funding agencies for public health programs

ability to negotiate, develop and monitor contracts

knowledge of social marketing theory and processes, including principles to target specific audiences; ability to tailor programs and messages appropriately to maximize behavior change

skill and experience in planning, implementing, and evaluating public health programs

skill and experience in developing program and/or project plans

ability to use public health data to describe population health problems

knowledge and understanding of the principles of effective tobacco prevention and cessation strategies

ability to work with partnerships or coalitions with diverse membership

skill in writing reports

strong interpersonal, communication, and oral presentation skills

Preference will be given to candidates with a Master's Degree in Health Education, Public Health or Public Administration.
