Job Characteristics: This position is with the Division of Disease Control and Prevention, Bureau of Epidemiology, Communicable Disease Analysis and Reporting Program. The incumbent works as the Analytic, Visualization, and Reporting (AVR) Epidemiologist. Primary responsibilities include the following: provide support in the implementation, evaluation and refinement of AVR tool functionality in order to allow routine analysis of surveillance data; collaborate with staff to assure data quality and accuracy; perform routine assessments of surveillance systems; manage a case control study to evaluate the effectiveness of the new pneumococcal vaccine, and provide training opportunities to assure staff are comfortable with analytic methodologies and interpretation of data. Incumbent works collaboratively with other Bureau of Epidemiology (BOE) staff to identify, assess potential for utilizing, and implement use of new data sources to supplement surveillance data. Incumbent provides training to local and state health department staff regarding the utilization of the AVR tool, which is integrated with the communicable disease surveillance system (TriSano).
