The Salt Lake Valley Health Department currently has an opening for a Health Educator position. This position has an emphasis on advocacy in Cancer Control; the job description can be found below. This position will lead a multi-county project developing, planning, implementing and evaluating efforts affecting policy change at a local level; create and format prospective cross-cutting best practice methods to be used in reducing the burden of cancer; contact, meet, and collaborate with pre-identified local health departments as well as various public agencies, schools, businesses, community and civic leaders and others to impact changes related to public health policy; act as a resource to expand, develop and coordinate youth groups; gather information, collect data, conduct needs assessments, develop and prepare required evaluation and other reporting documents; establish and conduct pre-program and post-program assessments; conducts process and outcome evaluations with participants and key stakeholders; provide education on cancer issues to policy makers. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: Grade 23
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in Health Education, Public Health, Community Health, or Political Science, plus one year experience in public policy and an in-depth knowledge of evaluation or experience working closely related to these duties; OR a Master Degree in Public Administration with a focus on public policy.
