Project Description	The Utah Ryan White Part B Program seeks to improve the quality, availability, and organization of health care and supportive services for individuals living with HIV disease and their families.  Part B activities include case management, AIDS drugs assistance (ADAP), health insurance assistance, transportation services, and clinical and programmatic quality improvement. This project will provide direct assistance to Part B Program by: Creating program fact sheets Client file maintenance (scanning and categorizing) Conducting and transcribing HIV interviews Editing and formatting TB Program Manual Other tasks as assigned
Prerequisites	Current MPH student or master level student in related fields (health promotion, social work, etc) Knowledge of HIV disease, treatment and community resources. Experience conducting interviews Strong organization skills; detail oriented Ability to work independently

Job Characteristics: This position is with the Division of Disease Control and Prevention, Bureau of Epidemiology, Communicable Disease Analysis and Reporting Program. The incumbent works as the Analytic, Visualization, and Reporting (AVR) Epidemiologist. Primary responsibilities include the following: provide support in the implementation, evaluation and refinement of AVR tool functionality in order to allow routine analysis of surveillance data; collaborate with staff to assure data quality and accuracy; perform routine assessments of surveillance systems; manage a case control study to evaluate the effectiveness of the new pneumococcal vaccine, and provide training opportunities to assure staff are comfortable with analytic methodologies and interpretation of data. Incumbent works collaboratively with other Bureau of Epidemiology (BOE) staff to identify, assess potential for utilizing, and implement use of new data sources to supplement surveillance data. Incumbent provides training to local and state health department staff regarding the utilization of the AVR tool, which is integrated with the communicable disease surveillance system (TriSano).

Brigham Young University Faculty Position Announcement: Core Public Health

Assistant or Associate Professor level applicants are being recruited to join the Department of Health Science at Brigham Young University, with demonstrated skills in one or more core public health disciplines (e.g., biostatistics, environmental health, epidemiology, or health promotion). Preferred applicants are faculty whose preparation, research or experience prepares them to teach two or more core courses (i.e., Hlth 100, 310, 311, 322, 330, 345) and other discipline specific courses (i.e., Hlth 432, 439). Qualifications include: The doctoral degree (DrPH, PhD, etc) or relevant terminal degree in health promotion, public health, or related behavioral/social science is required. A MPH degree is preferred. A record of peer-reviewed scholarship applying quantitative or qualitative skills to a public health problem, or a specific plan to carry out interdisciplinary research is expected. Additionally, preference will be given to applicants with experience or expertise in the following priority areas: a) Applied public health practice at the community level in the US and other countries; b) Demonstrated experience in global health, program planning and evaluation, community and individual behavior change, sociopolitical processes, organizational and systems change, and/or evidence-based interventions to promote health; c) Accrued working relationships with diverse populations (e.g. racial/ethnic, cultural, persons with disabilities, underserved, etc.) and have an interest in performing research or service among these populations; d) Capacity to secure external funding to support research and training; and e) Employment in public health or health promotion practice.

Responsibilities include: teaching undergraduate courses in the public health major; teaching graduate courses in the MPH program; conducting and publishing research; serving in professional associations; and serving on department, college, and university committees.

The Department of Health Science is housed within the College of Life Sciences. Two undergraduate degree programs are offered in the department as well as the MPH degree. The department is composed of 15 full-time faculty members and numerous part-time and adjunct faculty members. Student mentoring, including diverse research projects in many parts of the world, is an important activity within the department. GENERAL SUMMARY

We are seeking a Master’s level statistician to work with a large cohort study.  The ideal candidate will be fluent in SAS with the aptitude to learn additional languages (stata, R, SQL) as necessary.  The job will provide opportunities for both data management and analysis using a variety of modeling techniques (proportional hazards, logistic regression, etc).

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1.     Conducts various statistical analyses using computer software packages.  May assist students, faculty and staff in appropriate methodologies for study.  Researches materials in support of analyses performed.

2.     Designs and maintains computer databases.  Enters and analyzes data and verifies accuracy of data entered by others.

3.     Identifies trends and compares with established expectations.  Generates reports, creates statistical charts from databases and reviews with other departmental staff.

4.     Performs programming to update system, services and reports on existing production databases.

5.     Assists with development of grant applications, presentation of results, and scientific papers for publication.

6.     Maintains knowledge of current changes and developments in the field by reading appropriate publications, communicating with subject matter experts and attending related conferences.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

BS degree in Math or related field and 3 years experience in the application of complex statistical techniques required.  A MS degree in statistics, mathematics, or a closely related field could substitute the BS and 3 years experience.  Must be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of statistical techniques including the use of SAS/SPSS and related computer database languages.
